01 Educational Leadership Philosophy
I believe that all students deserve world-class, high-quality instruction in an environment that affirms them- just as they are. I believe that instruction should be responsive, and evolving finding the best pedagogical strategies that align with the learners we have the honor to teach. I believe that every student can learn and that their growth can be evidenced in both qualitative and quantitative ways. I believe we must push fastidiously toward the goal of educational equity.
I realize as a leader, it is my goal, and privilege to create an environment in which teachers can thrive in creating the aforementioned circumstances. I must attend to the high-level view, and the details with great precision in a way that allows me to remove any barriers to teachers' success. It is my responsibility to create a culture in which all staff- regardless of role- feel seen and valued as humans first and employees second. It is my work to create pathways for growth and build the capacity of my staff, harnessing and unleashing talent. I believe that culturally responsive leadership is critical to aligning our beliefs to our actions to ensure that students and staff experience belonging in our school. Finally, I believe that collective efficacy is pivotal toward actualizing our goals as a school.
02/03 School vision & goals
Stewarding a school vision from development to implementation is a critical component of an administrator's work. Utilization of school goals to bring the vision to fruition is the fundamental operationalization of the mission. The following artifacts demonstrate an analysis of the school vision, as well as evidence of a school improvement plan and goals I have co-authored.
13 Educational trends
The past two years have unveiled inequities with great magnification. In addition, innovation has found its place in the technological spotlight in a way that I imagine we will continue to see. Some trends to keep an eye on:
blended classrooms
Social Emotional Learning instruction as part of core teaching
emphasis on critical thinking, and teaching learners adept at entering a workforce we have yet to see
shifts in reading instruction
focus on pandemic-related 'learning loss'
pursuit of educational equity and closing opportunity gaps
equitable grading practices
